Apple’s CarPlay feature is a must use for those of us that drive often, but there are situations where you may want to prevent your iPhone from automatically connecting to your car’s CarPlay system.
So if you want to stop the automatic wireless CarPlay connection, this is what you should do.
Disable Wireless CarPlay Auto-Connect
Here’s how to stop your iPhone from automatically connecting to CarPlay wirelessly in your car:
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap “General.”
- Select “CarPlay.”
- Tap on your car’s name under the “My Cars” section.
- Toggle off “Allow Auto CarPlay.”
After following these steps, your iPhone will no longer automatically connect to your car’s CarPlay system when you get in the vehicle.
So, you’ll need to remember that you have to manually connect by going to the CarPlay settings page and tapping on your car’s name when you want to use CarPlay.
Obviously you can re-enable the auto wireless CarPlay connection at any time by simply following the steps above and toggling “Allow Auto CarPlay” back on.
Whether you opt for wireless or wired, CarPlay provides a safe way to stay connected while keeping your eyes on the road. And with the auto-connect option disabled, you have more control over when and how CarPlay activates in your vehicle.
