How to Get Candy Fast in Pokémon GO: Top Tips!

Getting candy in Pokémon GO is essential for powering up and evolving your Pokémon, but many trainers find the mechanics a bit confusing at first. Let me break down all the different ways you can collect these precious resources.

Catching Pokémon

The most straightforward way to get candy is simply by catching Pokémon. Every time you catch one, you’ll receive three candies specific to that Pokémon’s family. Here’s a pro tip: during spotlight hours or community days, you can really stack up on candy since specific Pokémon appear more frequently.

Transferring Pokémon

When you transfer a Pokémon to Professor Willow, you’ll receive one candy in return. I always recommend reviewing your collection regularly and transferring the lower-CP duplicates you don’t need. Just be careful not to transfer any shinies or special catches you might want to keep!

Walking With Your Buddy

One of my favorite methods is the buddy system. Set a Pokémon as your buddy, and you’ll earn candy by walking with it. Different Pokémon have different walking requirements:
– 1 km for common Pokémon
– 3 km for uncommon ones
– 5 km for rare species
– 20 km for legendary Pokémon

Using Pinap Berries

Here’s a trick many newer players overlook: using Pinap Berries when catching Pokémon doubles your candy reward. Instead of getting three candies, you’ll get six! I always save my Pinap Berries for rare Pokémon or ones I’m trying to evolve.

Special Events and Bonuses

Keep an eye out for special events – they often feature candy multipliers. During some events, you might get double or even triple candy for catches, transfers, or hatching eggs. Speaking of eggs, don’t forget that hatching Pokémon eggs also provides a generous amount of candy!

Using Rare Candy

If you’re struggling to get candy for a specific Pokémon, Rare Candy is your best friend. You can earn these from:
– Raid rewards
– Research task completion
– GBL rewards
– Special events

Convert Rare Candy into candy for any Pokémon species you choose. I typically save mine for legendary Pokémon since their candy is the hardest to obtain normally.

Remember, the key to maximizing your candy collection is combining these methods strategically. During events with candy bonuses, use Pinap Berries and focus on catching everything you can. Walk with your buddy while doing raids or hunting for specific Pokémon. It’s all about making the most of every opportunity to collect these valuable resources.
