How to Fight Friends in Pokémon GO: Easy Guide

Pokemon GO’s long-awaited PvP battles have finally brought true trainer battles to life, letting you challenge your friends directly. Let me walk you through exactly how to start battling those buddies of yours.

Getting Started with Friend Battles

First things first – you’ll need to be at least level 10 to access the battle feature. You’ll also need to be Good Friends with someone before you can challenge them to a battle. Don’t worry though, reaching Good Friend status only takes one day of friendship interaction, like sending gifts or trading Pokemon.

How to Send Battle Challenges

There are two main ways to start a battle with friends:
1. If you’re physically near your friend, tap on their trainer profile and select the Battle button
2. For remote battles, open your Nearby menu, go to the Battle tab, and select a friend from your list

One cool thing about remote battles is that you can challenge Ultra and Best Friends no matter where they are in the world. It’s pretty amazing to think you can battle someone on the other side of the planet!

Choosing Your League

Before the battle begins, you’ll need to pick which league you want to fight in:
– Great League: Pokemon up to 1,500 CP
– Ultra League: Pokemon up to 2,500 CP
– Master League: No CP limit

For newer players, I’d recommend starting with Great League. It tends to be more balanced and lets you use a wider variety of Pokemon effectively.

Battle Mechanics and Strategy

During the battle, you’ll tap the screen to use fast attacks and hold down to unleash charged moves. Here’s a pro tip: don’t blow both your shields too early! Save at least one for when your opponent has their strongest Pokemon out.

Each Pokemon can have two charged moves, and switching between Pokemon strategically can help you avoid super effective attacks. Think of it like a game of rock-paper-scissors, but with monsters!

Rewards and Daily Limits

You can earn rewards from three trainer battles per day, plus one additional battle against a team leader. These rewards might include rare items like Sinnoh Stones or Stardust. Even if you’ve hit your reward limit, you can still battle for fun and practice.

Remember, battling friends isn’t just about winning – it’s a great way to test new team combinations and strategies while having fun with your Pokemon GO community. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different Pokemon and movesets to find what works best for your battle style!
