Apple fixes FaceTime for 10.6 users

FaceTimeIconXIf you use FaceTime in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and have not been able to establish a connection with your contacts, then Apple has addressed this issue with a quick update to the FaceTime app for 10.6 systems.

While FaceTime is built into OS X 10.7 and above, it is available for installation on Snow Leopard systems as a 99 cent purchase from the Mac App Store. Therefore, if you have Snow Leopard then go to the store and download the update from the FaceTime page (direct link here), and install it.

Apple has not commented on exactly why FaceTime for 10.6 stopped working. Recently users of Apple’s iOS 6 have noticed FaceTime no longer working, suggesting a change in the FaceTime network that resulting in these problems. While Apple has not yet addressed the issue for iOS 6, this update should allow your 10.6 system to connect again.
